Propane

Run home, camp and RV appliances with less reliance on electricity by switching to the cleaner-burning energy of propane. Everything you need to do it, from tanks for storing this cost-effective fuel safely to the parts and accessories that help deliver it reliably, can be found at Tractor Supply.

Efficient Power for The Great Outdoors

If you’ve ever gone off the beaten path to get away from it all, whether camping, hunting or fishing, then you know the benefits that propane can bring to a trip. For one, it’s one of the most versatile fuels out there. Coming in a wide range of volumes, it can run everything from small gas grills to home furnaces and water heaters. Whether you’re after a solution to power a few lanterns for a weekend hike or an entire commercial greenhouse operation, our inventory is your one-stop shop for the following must-haves:

Refillable Propane Tanks

Whether at home or out in Mother Nature, these specialized cylinders are key to keeping all your equipment running. As they’re designed to contain liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) under pressure, they’re also durable enough to withstand the elements. This makes them ideal for powering both portable outdoor setups, such as camp stoves and patio heaters, and permanent commercial or agricultural installations. Choose between pre-filled and empty tanks that can be reused and refilled conveniently at your local store.

Propane Parts and Accessories

No propane setup is complete – or even possible – without the essentials for using, transferring and storing propane in a tank in the first place. That includes everything required to connect cylinders to appliances and move fuel between them, such as fittings, hoses, regulators and other parts, OPDs, gauges, valves and related accessories. You can find it all, and more, right here.

FAQs About Propane Tanks and Refills

How do I store, maintain and transport a propane tank?

Propane tanks should be stored outside in a well-ventilated area, away from heat and ignition sources. It is crucial to inspect them regularly for damage, including dents, corrosion and wear on hoses and fittings. To check for leaks, apply a soapy water solution to valves and connections, looking for any signs of seepage, which is a strong indication of a leak.

Always transport your propane tank upright and make sure it is secured to prevent tipping. Additionally, the tank should always be moved with the valves closed. If a propane container is damaged or needs disposal, contact a certified propane supplier or your local waste service for more information on the next steps.

How do I refill an empty propane tank?

Most of our stores can refill portable and stationary tanks. If you need an RV refill, call ahead to confirm that your location offers that service. Bring your tank in during regular business hours, leave it in your vehicle and notify a team member you’ve arrived, using either the Tractor Supply app or by going inside. A trained propane handler will meet you in the filling area, inspect your tank for certification and safety and then top it up to the legal limit. For safety, remain at least 25 feet away during the refill process.
