Bedding Products for Your Animals

Help keep your livestock comfortable and protected from the elements by getting bedding designed specifically for them. Browse our selection of livestock bedding products, with options such as:

Pellet Bedding

Make tidying pens, stalls and barns easier when you use pellet bedding. Made of dense wood pellets, this livestock bedding option has better absorption and less dust than shavings, simplifying the clean-up process. Pellet bedding also offers comfort and shock absorption for your livestock. Stock up with our 40-pound bags of pelletized bedding, including options ideal for horses and other small animals.

Shavings

Another popular livestock bedding option is wood shavings, which are available in different flake sizes for various types of animals. Choose from cedar and pine shavings in extra-fine, fine and flake options, as well as shavings with low dust, odor control and insect control to keep you and your livestock comfortable.

Barn Lime

If your livestock’s stalls and barns are smelly, dirty or slippery, barn lime can help. It is a finely ground limestone product that can be placed in your barn or stalls to cover odors, create a dry environment and provide traction on floors. Barn lime can also be added to manure to enrich it and improve pH levels. We carry 25- and 50-pound bags of barn lime, including options specifically for enhancing fertilizer and deodorizing.

Frequently Asked Questions about Livestock Bedding

Are shavings or pellets better for livestock?

It depends on your preference and what type of livestock you have, but generally, wood might be a better bedding option than wood shavings because they are more absorbent and easier to clean. Our wood pellets also tend to come in more consistent sizes so you can get the ideal amount.

How often should you change your livestock’s bedding?

The frequency of changing your livestock’s bedding will vary depending on what animals you have and what type of bedding you use. For cows, bedding should be added one to three times a week and for chickens, the bedding should be cleaned out once a week or once a month. Goat and horse bedding should be completely changed every one to two weeks.

How deep should livestock bedding be?

The depth of your livestock bedding will be different depending on the animal, but for cows and horses, it should be around 6” to 8”. For chickens with a deep litter system, the bedding should be 4” to 8”.
